Question: Is it ok to eat sweets before gestational diabetes testing? (Posted by: Noah James born 10-11-09 on 2009-08-04 23:11:28) We had a bake sale for work today and all the leftovers are here and are VERY tempting! I'm supposed to get tested for gestational diabetes in the morning. Will eating sweets the night before affect the results of my test? Sorry I should have added this. I'm at no known risk of diabetes. It's just a thing they check for. I just hardly eat sweets and seeing them while being pregnant is making me want them! I just didn't want to make the test inaccurate since I hardly eat sweets. My test came back negative. That night I had a piece of white cake with whipped white frosting, a brownie topped with powdered sugar, chocolate chip ice cream, and 2 glasses of orange juice and 2 glasses of water. What a pig ha ha!

Posted by: Annie on 2009-08-04, 23:31:54 Well if you have diabetes yes it will affect the test the disease will be more serious if you dont have diabetes then no it will not affect your test just your blood suger if there was a good percent of you getting diabetes then stay on the safe side dont eat sweets

  

Posted by: Samantha on 2009-08-05, 11:44:26 I wouldn't eat any sweets - as sugar contributes to high blood sugar levels. i see that this question was asked a while ago - will you report your blood glucose levels after the test (and tell us if you ate sweets beforehand)?
