I know this is really bad for me to be asking but i honestly don't know the answer! i have type one diabetes, i was diagnosed in december 2008 so it's been a while since the doctor told me what happens when i don't inject insulin in myself or i forget to do it. i don't wanna test it incase it's something really dangerous. The doctor told me, i just forgot. lol. and what are the signs that i need more insulin? like, physical signs and effects.

If you don't take your insulin your glucose levels can get very high and eventually cause you to go into a coma and have severe electrolyte abnormalities. You need to visit your doctor for a reminder on how and when to check your glucose levels and how much insulin to take. This is very important as uncontrolled diabetes can have many devastating effects such as blindness, kidney failure, heart disease and more.

Well i'm not a doctor or nurse, but ive had type 1 diabetes for 7 years now.. If you forget to take ur insulin, your sugars will get high and you'll pretty much feel like crap.. I would check ur sugars and take insulin according to wat ur number is.. ur doctor should have given you a scale on how much to take when ur sugars are at a certain level..

You would never know if you have high blood sugar, unless it is very extreme. NOT a doctor here nor a nurse. Check your blood sugars asap. If they are high, follow your prescription. One diabetic told me that you use 1 unit per 15g of carbs. It is safer and better just to check, Use the smallest amount you think you need, then cut that amount in 1/ 2. Better to take 2 shots and be safe than one big one and go hypo.

Actually, you would know if your sugar is high - I am a diabetic and on insulin. If your sugar is high, you get the "thirst " and if you are a diabetic, you know what I am referring to. Your body wants water to get the excess sugar out so you drink more and urinate more - plus you can feel nauseous - and no energy and want to sleep all the time. I think it is very unwise to not test your sugar so you have some idea of what you are dealing with. Plus, what type of insulin do you take? Do you take Lantus? Do you take novolog? Do you take regular, NPH? It all depends. I am on a pump and all I take is novolog but my pump does all the math for me - I just test, dial it in and I get the insulin. You need a sliding scale. If your sugar doesnt register on your glucometer, it is high. but, you need to test your sugar. If it doesnt register and you do not take a shot to correct it, or dont feel comfortable taking a shot, go to the ER. Even if you dont have insurance, they have to treat you - but please, get some help!!

Just make sure it doesn't happen very often cause the really bad stuff that happens is over TIME. Like if you miss injections and don't take the greatest care of yourself your body DIES slowly, specifically the organs in your body. Example: I am type 1 diabetic since I was 8years old and have taken pretty good care of myself and I'm 30 now. I just started noticing my Eyesight wasn't as good as it used to be. Its not a big change but it was enough for me to notice it.
